Hydrangea, Wisteria, Daffodils- all the bright colors and flowers representing spring have been given the sportiest avatar possible, in a romantic way, inspired by the high-spirited ‘American Attitude’ of the 60’s at the Michael Kors Spring/ Summer Collection 2015 at the New York Fashion Week 2014.
Agnes De Mille and Louise Dahl-Wolfe made a strong influence to the collection- with their bubbly styled, graciously controlled vintage touches, that doesn’t hide the ease & natural feminism, while defining the entire collection in a sophisticated language- from a creative point-of-view.
‘Be my, be my baby‘ crooning by the Ronettes made everyone tap on the front row- graced by Cody Horn, Harley Viera-Newton, Olivia Palermo, Alexandra Richards, Aerin Lauder, Mary J. Blige, Jessica Chastain among others, while the models- lined-up by Sasha Luss, Lisa Winkler, Daria Strokous, Esther Heesch, Shu Pei Quin, Valery Kaufman, Suvi Koponen, Maggie Rizer, Candice Swanepoel and many more- presented all the clean, neat, floral, romantic, sporty, chic pieces from the Michael Kors Spring 2015 Collection.
The collection presented us with everything to welcome those bright sunny days of spring- romantic embellishments, florals- in prints, embroideries, accessories, graphic gingham, sailor stripes, plaids, large-flowing skirts & dresses with movement and defined at the waist with a belt, voluminous trench, peacoats and balmacaans; whereas there are also super cool summer pieces in crisp indigo, white, neutrals like ecru & muslins juxtaposed with black, slim cropped jeans, relaxing capris and lean bermudas.
And, to match these ‘all-round’ performing outfits, accessories like artisanal satchel, tailored crossbody, ankle-wraped flats have graced the Michael Kors Spring 2015 Collection. And, the best part- there’s not a single pair of high-heel in this collection! 😉 Wrist watches and shades have also been given a fare share to express strong feminism. And, nobody can miss those messy, care free hairstyles while the make-up was subtle enough to match the collection that is sporty, chic at heart.
But the main spirit of the collection was showed with colors- no wonder, the same butter-cup yellow was seen on both a flowered skirt and on a streamlined duffle coat. Michael‘s creativity is also seen on that blue suede jacket that looked like denim and was paired with a lacy floral skirt.
The tailoring of each piece is so carefully done and every details has been paid the fullest attention to execute the designer’s unparalleled vision of sporty, romantic feminism. Look at the extreme details of those floral artworks seen at the Michael Kors SS15 Collection:
My top 5 (sorry to do injustice to most other pieces 😛 ) selection from the Michael Kors SS15 are:
The crisp white shirt paired with a floral skirt and neutral ankle-wrapped flats & belt.
The fuschia Hydrangea dress tied at the chest and accessorized with nothing but simple sporty lace-up ankle-wrapped flats.
The yellow Daffodils on blue crop top and skirt with ankle-wrap flats.
The lacy white floral dress with brown leather floral belt and flats.
The voluminous Wisteria dress with flats.
This one is my top favorite- screaming chic, care-free spirit with extreme sensuality. 🙂 love it!
Sports meet Romance– the theme of this collection was dedicated to the free-spirited ‘women who love to have it all’ and the entire collection- from the chic outfits to the casual yet stylish accessories- was designed to serve them best. ‘Optimistic Chic‘, ‘A Sportif Take on Romanticism‘- and phrases like these have been used by the designer himself to describe the Michael Kors Spring 2015 Collection.
As Michael says, “These are clothes that can go anywhere in the world, from the city to the country to the desert to the seaside…. The minute a woman can put her hands in her pockets, even at night, it changes her whole spirit.”
Well, I have always been able to relate myself with Michael‘s creations because I was brought-up with a personality of such high-spirits and strong attitude. I, myself, could never and still can’t, feel like ‘myself‘- if I can’t find a pocket in my outfit, to slip my hands into. In fact, at times, I use a denim waist-coat with my traditional salwar-kameez so that I have those pockets! 😛 Who says, a woman needs to wear a man’s outfit to feel strong???
The Michael Kors Spring 2015 Collection defines me and many more fashionistas around the world. I believe, it’s going to be the most favorite for street style the next year and many ones after that because of its vintage roots!
