All Hail Globe Trotters!!!
This is probably what Michael Kors had in his mind when he was planning such an amazing travel-friendly collection for the Spring/Summer 2016 at New York Fashion Week on Wednesday September 16. A collection full of fun, easy, comfortable, super-stylish clothes- just perfect for a girl traveling her heart out, all around the world! It was more than visible that Michael has reached the level ‘beyond seasons’ as a designer and this collection, for me, is more catering to the recent trend of ‘solo traveling’ as the solo travelers want to have more in less.
Michael always has this mantra when creating for girls – “woman who wants it all”. He’s proved it yet again with this latest collection, just like the SS15– only more targeted towards globe trotters and designed with a more androgynous attitude. There was romance as well as elegance juxtaposed with practicality and of course, perfect style. And, I am one of the biggest fans of the combination of androgynous & classic & romantic fashion 🙂 . Each of the pieces was highly sensuous while gliding, sliding, wrapping and tying around the body!!
And the colors?? OMG!!! For me, it was like Michael’s somehow stolen a page or few from my dream travel style diary!!! Only, it’s quite the opposite :P. But honestly, this guy knows how to portray a cool-girl’s attitude true to the point!! The regular crispy tones of his almost all collection- white & black- were joined by the new shade- lapis. There were crimson (one of my most favs), sienna, nutmeg, vanilla, sky and also tones of sand & straw. Only, Michael made all these tones a few times more desirable by making them appear in the sun-kissed shades!! And, added to these tones were the ruffles, lace and floral embroidery.
Buttoned-up shirts, romantic full skirts appliquéd with a distressed floral motif (lots of poppies 🙂 ), drawstring blouses, wide-leg trousers with angular details at the waistband, waist-clinching leather belts, super-soft cardigans, suede wrap skirts, utility jackets, oversize trench coats were the premier features of this SS16 collection. And, a carefree attitude of millennial women was also highlighted here in the low-slung shoulder bags and drawstring pouches. Added to these were those comfort-flaunting (yeaai… for me 😉 ) rugged, strappy sandals and sliding flats. (told you it’s a traveler’s paradise for style!!)
Plus the makeup & hair of the entire show was impeccably compatible with the theme of real life travel diva. The entire SS16 collection was all about layering and expressing whatever a girl’s personal style is, with perfect combination of chic and comfort.
Although it hardly seemed anything like a show that’s shouting out spring to the loudest with pop-ups of colorful, funky outfits here & there, in fact, it was more like someone traveling to her heart’s content throughout Europe while perfectly blending in with the artistry of the continent. My favorites are next to impossible to choose from such a collection which will always have an irreplaceable abode in my heart, as well as in my closet (hopefully 😛 )- so I will just select my top looks here and for no specific reason, except for the fact that they reflect myself most 🙂 :
Michael maintained his regular attitude of carrying a distinct characteristics when it comes to design a new collection. It couldn’t be anymore obvious than through this very collection of Spring/Summer 2016. Although, this was a clear exit from his typical beach inspired summer collection full of ultra-glamorous bikinis, he did keep the vibe up with very sporty pieces accessorized with the softest and thinnest saddle bag.
So, girls… get ready for a never-before stylish jet set experience and enjoy the rest of the collection here:
… yours always,
